Lesson 2: BMW Technology – iDrive

In this lesson, students will learn about the technology behind iDrive, BMW’s multifunctional console, which contains all the controls essential to driving. With just a simple touch, the iDrive system can control the head lights and communication functions from the steering wheel, display key driving data, such as speed and navigation directions, as well as connecting to Bluetooth wireless technology.

Students will learn about the advantages of this state of the art vehicle control system and will be able to explore how the iDrive Controller activates a range of key functions in the car, from the air conditioning to navigation settings.

At the end of this lesson students should be able to:

• Explain the advantages of iDrive
• Use the iDrive controller to set a destination in the navigation system
• Use the iDrive controller to set the time
• Use the iDrive controller to pair a telephone to the car via Bluetooth
