Cool Wayz teaches students in the 'transition' period when they start travelling independently, the information they need to consider to be able to make the best choices about their personal well being when out and about.
By working through the fact sheets and activities, students will develop knowledge and skills to help them make sensible choices. The activities will also help them develop transferable skills that should enhance their overall personal development.
Cool Wayz can be used during PSHE/PSE/PSD/PD&MU & Citizenship lessons or at school clubs.
Student Activities
The Students section of the Cool Wayz provides fact sheets and activities covering ten safety topics. The students section is divided into Road Facts, which helps students develop knowledge about road safety and personal safety skills, and Decisions Decisions, which helps to equip them with different strategies they might need when travelling on their own or with friends.
For each of the ten topics, students are given a fact sheet and two activities: A and B. 'A' has been created for students about to leave primary school and 'B' for students who have just begun secondary school. Depending on your students, you might decide to use both A and B with one class.
Lesson Plans
To help you use the Cool Wayz activities with your students, lesson plans for each of the ten topics have been developed. Like the activities, the lesson plans are split into A and B. 'A' has been created for students about to leave primary school and 'B' for students who have just begun secondary school.

Facts and Figures
The main facts and figures associated with road collisions are detailed here. It offers a perspective on the issues involved with road safety and why it is so pertinent that students understand the risks involved in not being travel-wise, especially as they start to become more independently mobile in their everyday lives.
