It is often said that communication is the cornerstone of human civilisation. It allows us to exchange ideas and news, learn from each other, give and take instructions, organise and carry out complex tasks.

Communication can be visual, verbal, written, aural or a combination. There are different communication 'media' which can be used either on a one to one basis (for example, making a phone call or writing a letter to a friend) or can be media of mass communication (for example, television, newspapers, radio, the internet, signs in public places). Successful communication takes into consideration the needs and abilities of all those involved.

This section, the largest in this resource, delves into the many areas under the 'communication' banner. Issues looked at range from brand values, design and advertising, through to sponsorship, public relations and the media.

In this section you will find student activities, worksheets, templates and factsheets concentrating on these issues.
