Safety in the Car
In the event of any crash your child's risk of being killed or seriously injured dramatically increases if they are not strapped correctly in the car.
By law, all children MUST be correctly restrained in the car. There are very few exceptions to this rule.
What you can do to help your child...
Make sure everybody is correctly restrained in the car for every journey.
(Most road crashes happen within a few miles from home.)
- Find out which are the legal requirements for children travelling in cars.
- Find out which is the correct restraint for your child.
- Choose a model that is comfortable for your child and fits your car (always try a child restraint before buying).
- Make sure the restraint is correctly fitted according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- As your child is growing, check frequently whether the restraint is still correct for their height and weight.
