1. Know your bike 
A two-part activity involving identification of the key parts of a bicycle, followed by recognition of the four parts that must be checked before each journey.
ICT - Finding things out, developing ideas, making things happen, reviewing and evaluating.
ENGLISH - Reading and understanding and spelling.
PSHE/PSD - Responsibility.
2. Protect your head 
Recognise incorrect spellings in a story about the consequences of not wearing a cycle helmet. Pupils can correct the wrong words using a 'spell-check' facility.
ICT - Finding things out, developing ideas, making things happen.
ENGLISH - Reading and understanding, spelling, language structure.
3. The bicycle story 
A two-part comprehension activity: firstly, read the passage on the history of bikes and identify pictures; secondly, take the 'Memory Test' to complete sentences from the passage.
ICT - Finding things out, developing ideas, sharing information, reviewing and evaluating.
ENGLISH - Reading, understanding, spelling sentence structure.
HISTORY - Chronological understanding, knowledge and understanding of events, people, changes from past to present. British and European history.
4. Ready for the road? 
Aids understanding of what cyclists must wear to keep safe. Done by 'dressing' the four cyclists in important safety items - ready to cycle on the road.
ICT - Graphics, developing ideas, making things happen.
SCIENCE - Scientific enquiry, material properties, colours.
PSHE/PSD - Consequences, types of injuries and prevention methods.
5. Tom's bike survey 
Facts are used as data, in an on-screen spreadsheet. Pupils are asked to 'sum up' the data by entering a basic formula.
ICT - Finding things out, developing ideas, making things happen, using spreadsheets, reviewing and evaluating.
MATHS - Using and applying numbers, calculations, handling data, processing and interpreting data.
6. Find the hidden message 
A word puzzle, where answers to the clues are typed in 'field' boxes provided using the 'Tab' key to move into the next 'field'. Once correct answers are typed in, a safety message appears.
ICT - Finding things out, making things happen
ENGLISH - Reading and understanding, discrimination and spelling.
7. Spot the mistakes 
Find and correct seven 'wrong' things with the cyclist.
ICT - Finding things out, interpreting, making things happen, controlling, investigating, reviewing and evaluating.
PSHE/PSD - Keeping safe, responsibility and the law.
8. Safer routes 
Follow a safe cycle route on a map and plot the return trip with grid references.
ICT - Finding things out, developing ideas, making things happen, reviewing, modifying and evaluating.
GEOGRAPHY - Geographical enquiry, skills, knowledge and understanding of places.
9. Build a Bike 
Build a bike, part by part, in the correct sequence.
ICT - Finding things out, creating and presenting graphics, reviewing and evaluating.
DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY - Knowledge and understanding of materials and components, evaluating processes and products.
10. Parts of a bike 'word search' 
Words are hidden in a wheel shape, horizontally or vertically. There are 12 to find in total.
